All of Wyatt’s supporters impatiently waited while the surgical team completed a 5 hour surgery. Wyatt ended up having multiple lobes of his lungs removed, intestinal repair, and a bowel obstruction removed
MedVet provided Jesse with updates and she was able to go visit with him the day after his surgery. The team at MedVet absolutely adored Wyatt and anytime he went in for a check up, it took a little extra time so that everyone could say hello to him.
Wyatt stayed with Jesse for 6 weeks after he was released from MedVet. Wyatt stole the heart of everyone he met, including Jesse’s dogs who Wyatt absolutely adored and loved to play with.
Wyatt was eventually adopted out to a loving family where he lives today and is absolutely spoiled.

Wyatt was found on June 2nd, 2025 on a county road after he had been shot twice in the chest. Wyatt was so happy to see anyone and everyone, so even though typically a dog with that caliber of injuries would be euthanized, Jesse was determined to give him a fighting chance. Wyatt’s personality was so unimaginably perfect.
Jesse first took Wyatt to Kurtz Veterinary Clinic in Hagerstown where he ad bloodwork and XRays done. Bloodwork showed that there was obviously a significant amount of blood loss and XRays showed a collapsed lung with a bullet in Wyatt’s lower abdomen. Kurtz provided pain meds to Wyatt and consulted with Jesse on their findings.
Jesse ended up taking Wyatt to MedVet Dayton that evening. Wyatt was rushed back with veterinary professionals while Jesse provided his history. Jesse consulted with the veterinarian and they set up a plan.
The first night, the amazing team at MedVet performed a procedure that stabilized Wyatt further. Jesse left MedVet, she was hopeful and confident.
The next morning, the veterinarian that came in to take over, called Jesse. The veterinarian and Jesse decided that surgery was the best course of action at that point and Jesse waited on a call from the surgeon.
When Jesse spoke with the surgeon, she explained that Wyatt was going to have a full sternotomy, where his chest would be cracked open, and they would explore the damage and repair what they could while removing other parts.
Wyatt’s story is the perfect example of what can be accomplished when a community comes together. Wyatt’s medical records were over $12,000 and 2/3 of that was covered by generous donors in Wayne County and surrounding areas.
Jesse took a chance on Wyatt, simply following her gut. And thanks to the community, Wyatt was able to get the life saving care he needed that wouldn’t have been in the budget of any shelter or rescue.
